VENUS 36 HOURS BEFORE THE TRANSIT

Image taken on June 6 2004 at 17h UT, 36 hours before the transit of June 8. Venus is only 2.5 from the Sun (a red filter has been used to decrease the brightness of the sky). 400 images combined, taken with a Neptune100 B&W video camera on a Takahashi FSQ-106 refractor. Thanks to the refraction of the solar light, the atmosphere of Venus is visible almost completely.
